Work Types

You can use Work Types to help you track work orders and tasks based on how each work order or task was created in MicroMain GLOBAL. Work orders and tasks are created using four Sources, each included in MicroMain GLOBAL with the following names:

  • Mobile —the Mobile Technician app
  • Maintenance—demand work orders created in the online version of MicroMainGLOBAL
  • Preventive Maintenance—scheduled PMs
  • Service requests

There are three default work types in MicroMain: Demand, Preventive, and Request. All users with access to the Assets menu can view an asset's criticality and filter the Assets page list by criticality.

Users can set the work type while creating tasks and work orders when multiple Work Types are assigned to the Source of the work order. Users with Asset Manager or Asset Admin user roles can also edit Criticality on individual assets.

MicroMain Administrators can edit Work Type settings on the Maintenance Settings tab on the Configuration page. Administrators can use those settings to:

  • Control whether Work Type is a required field on tasks and work orders.
  • Set the default Work Type for each Source.
  • Select which Work Types are available for each Source.
  • Create new Work Types and edit or delete user-added Work Types.
  • Control the display order when multiple Work Types are assigned to a Source.
